About
The Story Behind the Podcast
For months, we’d been grappling with personal challenges that tested our limits.
It was 2020.
I had just changed jobs. My confidence was shaken. I was navigating the emotional aftermath of a tough ministry season, questioning my own resilience and calling.
I took time to reflect at what stood out to me in ministry from the past few years and what burdened me most: people coming to Christ and people falling away.
What a paradox.
I saw people hungry for Jesus. Then at the same time, I saw people drifting (some blowing up) in their faith. Some of these stories were deeply personal and some involved “famous” pastors I looked up to from afar.
One evening, my buddy John and I were texting. “What if we shared our journey?”
“What if we created a platform to talk about resilience and faith, not just for us, but for others who might be struggling?
The idea of a podcast was born.
We realized that our experiences had given us valuable insights.
Eugene Peterson once wrote a book called, “The Long Obedience In the Same Direction.” The title of that book was too long for a podcast…but the Resilient Christian was not.
Eugene’s sentiment ungirds this podcast.
We wanted to create a space where faith and resilience intersected, showing how the two work hand in hand.
We believed that by sharing these stories, we could help others find the strength to persevere, just as we had.
With each story we tell, each guest we interview, we are reminded of the resilience that the Holy Spirit can give.
This podcast can’t be everything. You need a local church. You need spiritual friends. You need habits that can sustain you. You need mentors and coaches and therapists.
But we can offer you a bit of hope and inspiration along the way.
Our greatest hope is this….we want you to hear “Well done” from Jesus when you see Him face to face.
Until Christ is Formed in You!
